CORTIJO
CEREZO, LANJARON
Cortijo Cerezo (Cherry Tree Cottage) is situated above the spa town of Lanjaron, on the edge of the Alpujarra foothills of the Sierra Nevada range of southern Spain. Only 40 minutes from the coast, half an hour from Granada and one hour from the Sierra Nevada ski centre, it is ideally placed to explore this fascinating area. Although summer temperatures can be sizzling the rest of the year is pleasantly warm. Conditions are comfortable with light cooling breezes keeping the heat at bay. Even in the winter it is normal to sit outside for breakfast! |

Sleepy white
villages, Capileira, Pampaniera, Bubion, Canar and Trevelez, line
the hillsides with their Moorish architecture. There is something
for everybody in the area. Whether you are into mountain biking,
walking (the GR7 long distance path passes by the cortijo!), horse
riding, skiing, mountaineering or just relaxing by the pool, all
are catered for. The area is very serene and beautiful, and has
a large "alternative" community with yoga, meditation
and many other "healing" forms available. There is a Buddhist
monastery at Orgiva, which is 10 minutes away. .

Lanjaron
itself is famous throughout Spain for its mountain waters and spa
baths. People venture here from around the world to experience its
magic. Mountain waters from the Sierra Nevada snows appear from the
depths of the earth at various locations in the town and are free
for all to use. The water tastes wonderful and is very pure, free
from additives. The town also has many shops and bars and restaurants.
Lanjaron mixes the old with the new, muleteers being as familiar a
sight as four wheel drive vehicles.
